Minchinhampton Folk Club www.minchfolkclub.org
Since our founding in July 2003 by local folkie John Mills, Minchinhampton Folk Club has given enormous pleasure to thousands of singers, players, listeners and joiners-in from the four corners of the British Isles as well as further afield. We call ourselves a folk club because people understand how folk clubs work, but we are by no means just about folk music. Each Thursday night from about 8.15, the rafters ring to the sound of modern and traditional folk, blues, country, jazz, classical, bluegrass – in fact, all kinds of music.
At MFC we believe in encouraging new performers and fresh talent – just turn up, introduce yourself and play. We don’t expect you to be accomplished, just to do your best and enter into the spirit of the evening.
We meet in the Maypole Room at the Old Crown, Paganhill, Stroud (see news and info pages). The music starts at 8.15 and finishes around 11, depending on numbers. Requested donation £2 on entry, and please give more if we have a guest artist ‘doing it for the door’.

Paul and Robin walked into a pub during the 2015 Gloucester Shanty Festival and met Rod. “Do you know where we can do some singing?” we asked. “I’m booked to sing outside in ten minutes, you can join me,” said Rod.
Afterwards, we all said “That was fun… we should do more of it”.
So we have. Since that meeting, and with the addition of Deb Hannis to the band, the Gloucester Diamonds has evolved into much more than a shanty group. A Diamond performance features comedy, traditional folk, music hall, contemporary folk; and even the odd blues number.
The Gloucester Diamonds are: Rod Penlington, Deb Hannis, Paul Carter and Robin Burton

FINNEGAN’S WOK facebook.com/finneganswokceilidhband    Richard Cox 07890 985381 coxrac@aol.com

Finnegans Wok is a five piece Ceilidh band playing a mixture of music from Great Britain & Ireland to which we add the occasional American set. The instrumentation comprises fiddle, melodeon, whistles, guitar, tenor banjo & percussion, occasionally adding flute & various members of the mandolin family.

Over the years the band has performed at Ceilidhs & barn dances for wedding receptions, anniversaries, fund-raising events & parties of all sorts; anywhere, in fact where a good time is wanted. If the beer is good we’ll be there.

Music Session at the Ale House Sunday 2-4 pm.
