Minchinhampton Folk Club www.minchfolkclub.org
Since our founding in July 2003 by local folkie John Mills, Minchinhampton Folk Club has given enormous pleasure to thousands of singers, players, listeners and joiners-in from the four corners of the British Isles as well as further afield. We call ourselves a folk club because people understand how folk clubs work, but we are by no means just about folk music. Each Thursday night from about 8.15, the rafters ring to the sound of modern and traditional folk, blues, country, jazz, classical, bluegrass – in fact, all kinds of music.
At MFC we believe in encouraging new performers and fresh talent – just turn up, introduce yourself and play. We don’t expect you to be accomplished, just to do your best and enter into the spirit of the evening.
We meet in the Maypole Room at the Old Crown, Paganhill, Stroud (see news and info pages). The music starts at 8.15 and finishes around 11, depending on numbers. Requested donation £2 on entry, and please give more if we have a guest artist ‘doing it for the door’.
