In the Ballroom, Subscription Rooms.

A Saturday night extravaganza featuring some popular local acts.  This will consist of a ceilidh with concerts in between dances for you to catch your breath. Admission: £10

Finnegans Wok is a five piece Ceilidh band playing a mixture of music from Great Britain & Ireland to which we add the occasional American set. The instrumentation comprises fiddle, melodeon, whistles, guitar, tenor banjo & percussion, occasionally adding flute & various members of the mandolin family.Over the years the band has performed at Ceilidhs & barn dances for wedding receptions, anniversaries, fund-raising events & parties of all sorts; anywhere, in fact where a good time is wanted. If the beer is good we’ll be there.

 Jeff Gillett is an experienced folk guitarist and singer. As well as performing solo, he worked for many years as an accompanist for nationally renowned folk singer Ron Taylor. Elaine has been a enthusiast of traditional folk song for many years and performs regularly in local folk clubs.Together their voices combine to create beautiful harmonies and sensitive interpretations of traditional and modern folk songs, enhanced by Jeff’s supremely tasteful, restrained yet inventive accompaniments. Their repertoire includes traditional music, new interpretations of familiar songs and William Blake’s poems sung to Jeff’s original tunes. Concert at the Subscription Rooms Saturday night.

Ask Blondes With Beards to describe what they do and the first thing they’ll tell you is “We’re not a drag act.” They are, in fact, a four piece harmony group singing a mix of accompanied and a capella material. The band formed in 2011 and have become something of a pearl in the local folk scene. Their differing musical backgrounds are reflected in a varied repertoire encompassing folk, light country and blues with acoustic arrangements of some classic pop numbers, a bit of humour and some self-penned material. They work all over the South West and have provided support for class acts such Barbara Dickson, Katherine Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Si Baron, Saskia as well as local legends The Black Feathers.

PAUL & CLARE (Appalachian flatfoot)

Paul and Clare Sheridan have been known in the Old Time Dance world performing with Roughshod Appalachian dance team for 17 years and teaching for 30 years, both clogging steps and flatfooting. Clare and Paul have performed with headline acts at Gainsborough Festival, Friends of American Music and Dance, over the past few years.
